On September 2, 2024, the first of seven electric cars that will operate as part of the project’s “mini car sharing” network was officially handed over for use.
One of the implementation tools of the LIFE After Coal PL Project is a fleet of electric cars, which will support the work of climate advisors “in the field”, promote electromobility and contribute to reducing the carbon footprint, not only through electric drive, but also increased use of cars thanks to the pilot concept of car sharing by various local government units. Similar “car sharing” concepts already operate in large cities.
The car was handed over to the Grodziec Commune, represented by Mayor Mariusz Woźniak and Climate Advisor Przemysław Klinowski, by Jacek Bogusławski, a member of the Wielkopolska Province Board.
The next six cars will soon be delivered to other local government units.
As Jacek Bogusławski points out – we want to strengthen the municipalities and counties implementing the project, among others, through the climate advisors appointed last year or the creation of databases and IT systems for energy assessments. It is also planned to prepare thermal modernization projects for real estate and report the results. Local governments will also be equipped with knowledge on how to effectively use dedicated funds, including from the Just Transition Fund worth over four hundred million euros. Some of these tasks are already being successfully implemented. Therefore, new electric cars will also serve this process.
Specialized, dedicated postgraduate studies will also begin soon, where our climate advisors will be trained.
We assume that the “Life After Coal Pl” project is to serve not only Eastern Wielkopolska, but that over time our entire voivodeship and other coal regions in Poland and Europe will benefit from the experience, innovations and solutions gained.
