Conference on Air Quality Protection Programs

On November 5, a conference on air quality protection programs was held in the Session Hall of the Marshal’s Office of the Wielkopolska Region. The event was attended by representatives of local governments, government agencies, and environmental protection organizations.

The meeting was opened by Jacek Bogusławski, a member of the Wielkopolska Region Executive Board.

The following speakers then took the floor:

  • Joanna Cichoń from the Department of Environmental Management and Climate – with a presentation on air quality protection programs in the Wielkopolska Region,
  • Agnieszka Wójcik from the same department—discussing reporting on the implementation of air quality protection programs,
  • Marzena Andrzejewska-Wierzbicka, Director of the Department of Environmental Management and Climate – presenting the topic “Air Protection – New Challenges (ETS2),”
  • Michał Rejewski, Deputy Director of the Department of Environmental Management and Climate and project manager of LIFE After Coal PL, who presented the project’s implementation and its results,
  • Hanna Mierzwiak, Director of the Wielkopolska Region Surveying Office – presenting the use of the Wielkopolska Province Geographic Information System (SIPWW) in environmental monitoring.

In his presentation, Michał Rejewski discussed the key activities carried out as part of the LIFE After Coal PL project and the results achieved so far, which are available to all local government units in the Wielkopolska Region. The most important of these are:

  • information desk on energy cooperatives,
  • information desk on electric vehicle funds,
  • training for teachers and educational workshops for students,
  • published handbooks (Electromobility; Green Transition of SMEs; Green Public Procurement; ESG Reporting),
  • a methodology for calculating environmental indicators for the municipal and residential sector.

The LIFE After Coal PL project establishes a comprehensive support system for local governments, residents, and the SME sector—ranging from the planning and implementation of clean air initiatives to education and the development of local energy initiatives.
