VI meeting of the steering committee of the project “Life After Coal PL”

On September 25, the 6th meeting of the steering committee of the “Life After Coal PL” project was held in Konin, where the key tasks carried out by the project coordinator – the Office of the Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region in Poznan – in the period from June 25 to September 25, 2024 were discussed.

Ms. Marzena Andrzejewska-Wierzbicka, director of the Department of Environmental and Climate Management, also nominated new members of the steering committee on behalf of Mr. Jacek Boguslawski, member of the Board of Directors of the Wielkopolska Region.

Ms. Jowita Maćkowiak, director of the Wielkopolska Spatial Planning Office, presented the project’s baseline study and socio-economic impact assessment on the local economy and population. Updates to the study are foreseen in 2028 and 2031, which will allow the development of conclusions and guidelines for updating the implementation plan of the Strategy for Climate Neutrality of Eastern Wielkopolska 2040. The strategy remains a key document defining the policy of the Wielkopolska Regional Government aimed at achieving EU climate goals at the regional level.

Mr. Przemyslaw Piechocki, president of the Association for Social Cooperatives, discussed recommendations for green public procurement, while encouraging local government units to take a new approach to procurement.

Mr. Mateusz Kowalik, coordinator of the Life project presenting the Union of Associations of Polish Green Network, commented on the study of educational needs in the project’s area of influence.
